Byron Legion Fundraiser

HUGE OUTDOOR PARTY at the BYRON LEGION (Branch 533) on August 14, 2010
BBQ:  Hamburgers, Sausages
Outdoor Bar:  Enjoy a cool beverage while listening and dancing to two of London's best bands -   Tom Cat Prowl 2 TO 5:30 p.m.  and Shelly Rastin 6 TO 10:30 p.m.
Advance Tickets:  available at the bar for only $10.00 or at the door for $15.00.  A limited number of tickets will be sold so get your ticket before they are gone!!!

The Byron Optimists will be holding a silent auction to raise funds for disabled children and your donations would be greatly appreciated.  Please ask your employer if they would like to donate a gift certificate or an item to the auction.  Items can be dropped off at the Legion.
Please come out and help us support the children of our community!

2010 Safety on Wheels

 

The Optimist Club of Byron hosted its annual Safety on Wheels event on Sunday June 6th. Although the weekend weather was suboptimal, by the time the event was setup and
all volunteers on site, the weather cleared and provided a great afternoon to be playing in the lot. The air was filled with music provided by Hiren Mistry, the smell of BBQ’d hot dogs, and great sounds of fun by the participants and family members coaching them on through the skills stations. Throughout the event, prizes were drawn and the event ended with 3 grand prizes.

(excerpt from a publication on the Optimist Club of Byron 50th Anniversary 1950-2000)

For over 50 years the Optimist Club of Byron has put into action the philosophy of Optimism in a variety of youth programs and activities. Most of the young people in Byron have participated on one of more activities sponsored by the Club.

Optimism started in Byron in 1950 when 42 local community minded men met on April 11, 1950 at the Hermitage Club with Optimist members from the Downtown London and Lambeth Optimist Clubs to form the Optimist Club of Byron. Those charter members recognized the needs of the village of Byron and set out to meet those needs.

2010-2011 BOARD

Members are invited to submit nominations for the incoming Optimist Club of Byron 2010-2011 Board of Directors, for the year beginning October 1st.
Participating on the Board is a worthwhile and enjoyable experience, and all Club members are encouraged to volunteer.  No experience necessary!
Members of the current Board will partner with incoming members to ensure they are comfortable, and ready to take on a Board position.
